It's Time for "The Talk"

Okay boys & girls. Let's come and sit down on Mamma's knee. It's time for the talk. There are things that must be explained before this action gets put to use. Without this wisdom, things will start going all willy-nilly, people will become confused and many others extremely hurt.

"WHAT ARE YOU TALKING ABOUT TERRY YOU FREAK?!"

It's what you're all expecting: It's the dislike button. Currently, there are way too many people out there who are creating causes to add a dislike button...many people can't be trusted with such a tool. So, baby steps must be made...not great leaps. There must be clarity.

Here is an example of the current confusion on Facebook:

Reading down the Status Updates or even the News Feed, I'll see something written such as, "Another earthquake has hit Haiti, such a terrible tragedy!" Your mind automatically goes to; "People are going to think that I LIKE what has happened in Haiti if I click on the "LIKE" button!! If I had a "DISLIKE" button, people will know that I don't like what has happened in Haiti!" Sorry, but that thought pattern is wrong.

In this case, the "like" button is to AGREE the person's thought. "I agree with this person! These earthquakes ARE horrible tragedy, therefore I will click LIKE to show that I agree with this person's thought!"

If someone else who actually grasps the concept of the like/dislike option and saw that the person hit the DISLIKE option, well that would set off some MAJOR issues!!

I think that the BEST option to keep from that confusion: Put Agree or Disagree options instead. It will be easier to understand...and peace and harmony will dwell forever in Facebook land!
